Your generous support will give more children from disadvantaged communities the chance to learn to read and write successfully, and enable us to empower parents to play a meaningful role in their children's education.  What better investment could you make?

Donate

We would welcome donations both to support existing programmes and to sponsor new sites and courses. Many of the women who run our programmes are from the local community and offer their time on a voluntary basis. Where we have funds therefore, we like to be able to offer a small volunteer stipend or thank-you gift.

The following list gives an idea of some of the ways in which you might support us:
- learning kits for parents of young children – R80 each
- teaching kits for volunteer tutors at reading centres – R120 each
- catering for parent workshops – R1750 per seven week programme
- sets of books for new site – R2000
- stipend for a community volunteer for one year – about R2500

Sponsor a child’s school fees

Wordworks’ bursary scheme identifies children who would benefit from assistance with school fees and pays these for the duration of their primary school education.Sponsors are asked to commit to paying the fees for schooling and transport at an annual cost of between R3000 and R10 000 depending on the school a child attends.
