Every Word Counts book pack


This beautifully illustrated set of six books offers practical ideas for supporting babies and young children’s language development and early learning. The books cover the following topics:

Book 1: Talk, play and sing (birth to 2 years)

Early Literacy Assessment Kit


This kit provides an easy, clearly defined way to assess children’s emergent literacy skills and progress in Grade R and Grade One. The kit includes measures of letter-knowledge, awareness of sounds, emergent writing and word reading. Towards the end of Grade One, there are tasks which assess children’s sentence and story writing. The kit includes a booklet of instructions and scoring guidelines as well as answer sheets and items for each activity. The assessment can be used in the middle and end of Grade R and at three points in Grade One: beginning, middle and end of the year. The assessment is available in English and Afrikaans.
